Freudian Slip

I heard the BBC news report earlier today which announced the death of the former Prime Minister - Margaret Thatcher - after a long illness and battle against Alzheimer's Disease.

The presenter said - "The Former British Prime Minister, Baroness Thatcher, has died following a strike" - when what he meant to say, of course, was 'stroke'.

Now this Freudian slip of the tongue has its funny side - since Margaret Thatcher was associated with many things, but perhaps most of all with the bitter Miners' Strike - in 1984/85.

Yet that didn't stop every Prime Minister who followed her into No 10 Downing Street - both Tory and Labour - trying to exploit Margaret Thatcher's image and reputation for being a strong, decisive leader.
