Bites Yer Legs

Norman Hunter was an uncompromising, some would say downright dirty, football player - a defender in the famous Leeds United team from the late 1960s managed by Don Revie.

Leeds United were the dominant team in England at the time, invincible inmay people's eyes - until they met Glasgow Celtic who beat them in a memorable two leg match played at Parkhead  and Elland Road - a great victory masterminded by the legendary Celtic manager, Jock Stein.

Now Norman was such a fearsome and aggressive player that he earned the soubriquet Norman 'Bites Yer Legs' Hunter - a notorious nickname that he became quite proud of over the years - and accurately summed up his challenging playing style.

Although to be fair the 'biting' part was not intended literally since Norman didn't actually sink his teeth into opposing players - the biting referred to his tough tackling much of which would  be outlawed thse days given the rules of the modern game.

But after yesterday's eventful Premier League match between Liverpool and Chelsea - Norman may finally have been outdone by a new kid on the block - Luis 'Bites Yer Arms' Suarez.

Because Luis Suarez really did sink his teeth into the arm of an opposing Chelsea player - Branislav Ivanovic - for reasons that no one can even begin to understand and the Liverpool striker now faces another lengthy ban for his behaviour on the field of play.
