Stating the Bleeding Obvious

In a statement of the blieeding obvious - the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) announced today that there is still a significant pay gap - between men and women's jobs.

In a wide ranging 700 page report the EHRC said that women on average earned 16% less than men - rising to 27% for women aged 40.

Well that news won't come a surpirise to regular readers of the blog site - one of whom said in a recent e-mail:

'In our council - even after Single Status and job evaluation - the home carers and other traditional female jobs - are still paid much less that council refuse workers'.

So if the EHRC is looking for evidence of widespread pay discrmination - between male and female jobs - there are plenty of examples to point to in Scotland.
