Why Should Council Workers Be Treated Differently To Council Leaders?
SNP ministers awarded council leaders in Scotland a 5.2% pay rise this year - they didn't fund half or two-thirds of this increase, the Scottish Government picked up the bill in full.
All Scottish councillors received the same 5.2% increase on top of a 4.2% rise last year - with the promise of even more to come after a review of councillors pay in 2023.
So why should council workers, who kept essential services going throughout Covid, be treated any differently from council leaders - including the SNP leader of Glasgow City Council, Cllr Susan Aitken?
