Scotland's First Minister Is A Terrible Hypocrite

Resignations should follow after pre-Budget briefings, Speaker suggests

Scotland's first minister is a terrible hypocrite over her stance that the personal behaviour of Scottish Ministers, MSPs, MPs and staff has nothing to do with the Scottish Government - or indeed the SNP.

Now I have complained about the behaviour of two Scottish Ministers on social media in the past only to be told, by the First Minister, that because their comments came from a personal Twitter account there is no case whatsoever to answer.

Yet the Speaker of the House of Commons, Sir Lindsay Hoyle, has stepped in decisively to suspend the security pass of an SNP staff member at Westminster (Jonathan Kielhmann) over his use of a personal Twitter account - and rightly so.

The same goes for what anyone does in their own 'free time' and all the more so when they're in public office.

It's no defence to say that allegations of harassment, anti-social behaviour or domestic violence should be ignored - just because they took place in someone's home, or in the pub, during their own personal time.

In truth, Scotland's First Minister (a woman who should know better) has got this badly wrong while the Speaker of the House of Commons has got it right.

So well done Sir Lindsay Hoyle.

Westminster Puts SNP to Shame (October 25, 2021)

We, the public, pay the salary of the SNP staffer, Jonathan Kiehlmann, whose security pass has been suspended by the House of Commons Speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle.

Kielhmann worked previously for Kirsty Blackman and Kielhmann's behaviour on social media is the reason for his suspension.

Now if this behaviour had been referred to Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister would be likely to reject any complaint on the basis that Kielhmann used a personal Twitter account and, therefore, had nothing to do with the Scottish Government or the SNP.

That's certainly the defence Scotland's First Minister has used in the past despite the fact it is so obviously bogus and dishonest.

Thankfully Sir Lindsay Hoyle is made of sterner stuff, so let's hope this is the start of politicians and their staff members being held to account for their behaviour on social media.

SNP In Thrall to Trans Lobby (October 24, 2021)

The SNP is in thrall to the trans lobby and the party's behaviour on social media is out of control - will Nicola Sturgeon say this is nothing to do with her because it stems from a personal Twitter account?

But well done to the House of Commons Speaker, Lindsay Hoyle!
