Mercat Cross - Past Glasgow
Edith Burnet Hughes' hexagonal Mercat Cross of 1930 replaced one that was removed in 1649. Alexander Graham Henderson's Mercat Building was built 1925-28. The twin towers of Charles Wilson's now demolished St James Free Church can be seen on the right.

Here's a great photo of the Mercat Cross from Past Glasgow.
On the London Road (right) side of the photo is the now demolished St James Free Church - on the Gallowgate (left) side is a enormous tenement building sitting on what is now the site of Barrowland Park.
