People in Glass Houses
Edinburgh's Labour councillors take this week's award - for the biggest 'brass necks' in Scottish local government.
Councillors Andrew Burns - Labour group leader on the council - said the council should apologise for the mistakes made in the 'pay protection' arrangements for staff.
See post dated 26 October 2010 - 'Another Fine Mess'.
Presumably this is the same Labour group that ran the city council between 1999 and 2007 - and did nothing to implement the 1999 Single Status (Equal Pay) Agreement - during that period.
To the best of my knowledge I can't remember the Labour group - or anyone else for that matter - apologising for the widespread pay discrimination that existed within the council - and which Edinburgh (as a Labour run council at the time) pledged to sweep away in 1999.
The present council Lib Dem/SNP administration have also dragged their feet - and have many outstanding claims to resolve.
But the council's Labour group are in no position to criticise - because if anything their track record is even worse.
