SNP ministers didn’t have a leg to stand on after funding a 5.2% pay increase for council leaders - so it's no surprise they've come up with more cash in an effort to stave off a damaging strike.
Stump Up For The Workers - SNP! (August 04, 2022)
Scottish council leaders say SNP ministers must stump up and provide the funds required to ensure council workers get a decent pay increase this year.
And no wonder!
Because SNP ministers provided the funds to pay council leaders a 5.2% pay increase this year on top of 4.2% in 2021 - with the promise of more to come in 2023 on the back of a councillors pay review.
So if Team Sturgeon can find the money for council leaders, they can find the money to pay the key workers who kept Scotland going through Covid.
