GCC Says: Pay Up - In Full and On Time
Care staff in Glasgow City Council are being warned that they may be disciplined if they fail to pay their annual registration fees on time to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
Meanwhile a senior SNP councillor, Cllr Rhiannon Spear, fails to pay her council tax - yet gets to keep her job and enhanced salary as the council's Chair of Education.
Important Message regarding SSSC Registration
For the attention of all Social Work Staff within Glasgow City HSCP
Dear Colleagues,
This is a message to all employees and managers who are required to hold SSSC registration. Please read and note the contents.
Removal notifications / failure to pay fees
SSSC has now incorporated a final removal notice process. As such, the registrant will receive notification via email from SSSC advising them that they have failed to make payment within the required timescales. If the fee remains outstanding after 14 days, they will be removed from the Register.
Managers will also receive a copy of the email and are instructed to raise this with the individuals.
I cannot stress enough, the importance and responsibility placed on registered workers to ensure that they are appropriately registered; this includes processing renewal applications and paying annual fees within the required timescales.
Failure to maintain registration has a significant detrimental impact on service delivery, and as such, the consequences of this may include the implementation of formal proceedings in line with Glasgow City Council’s Disciplinary & Appeals procedures.
Selecting Endorsers for applications
I also want to remind employees of the correct endorsers of applications. Applications sent to other staff will not be progressed and will result in a delay in processing your application.
Select based on your work location in the City, as follows:
- North West - Linda Cassells
- North East - John Leese or Gordon Mackay
- South - Leigh O’Hara or Stewart Tees
- Centre Based services may select any of the above endorsers.
Managers of new recruits must ensure these staff are also aware of this.
