Are Trans Women Women?

25 Fun Facts About What Makes Men and Women Different - Ask The Scientists

Are trans women women?

Well the obvious answer is if that were true, there would be no need for the term 'trans women'.

In which case I think it's fair to say that trans women are biologically male - men who identify as women and who would like to live their lives as women, in some cases with the aid of surgery and/or drugs to change aspects of their physical appearance.

Likewise with 'trans men' who are biologically female, but who identify as men and would like to live their lives as men, again with the aid of surgery and/or drugs, in some cases at least.

Shouting slogans that 'trans women are women' doesn't change this reality, of course, but does make it much harder to have a sensible debate about the conflict between trans rights, women's rights and single sex spaces.
