Calling Out Glasgow's MSPs and MPs!

Well the results are in and I'm afraid to say I've not heard from a single person to confirm that their local Glasgow MSP was on last week's March and Rally - in support of the fight for equal pay in Glasgow City Council.

So unless someone was wearing a cunning disguise, I think's fair to say that not a single one of the City's parliamentary representatives managed to be present on the day.

Perhaps they didn't agree with the strike, perhaps they thought the strike was unnecessary, perhaps they don't like the unions - or maybe they thought the women were 'mindless sheep' who didn't really understand why they were going on strike in the first place.

Who knows? - but it's not a good look for Glasgow's politicians if you ask me.

Because while they have plenty of time for all kinds of local, national and international issues - they all (to a man and woman) managed to absent themselves from the most significant equal pay strike in their country's history.

Calling Glasgow! (25/10/18)

Help me out here, Glasgow!

Like thousands of others I was part of Tuesday's inspirational March and Rally in support of the fight for equal pay in Glasgow City Council.

Yet, as far as I know, not one of the City's 8 constituency MSPs came along to show their support, if not for the strike itself then at least to listen to what their local constituents had to say.

A poor show if you ask me, especially as this was a heaven sent opportunity to cut through all the background noise and engage directly with some of the City Council's lowest paid workers who are the heart of this long-running dispute.

As there were so many people there on the day, I might have missed something - so if any do know differently, drop me a note as I'd be happy to share the news on the blog site.

Calling Glasgow! (23/10/18)

Calling Glasgow's equal pay strikers and their many supporters!

If readers spot any of Glasgow's MSPs and MPs on today's March and Rally in support of equal pay, drop me a note as I'll give them a big 'shout out' on the blog for doing right by their local constituents.

I am hoping for a good turnout because every one of these Glasgow politicians have said at some time or another that they support the principle of equal pay for work of equal value.

So let's see who puts their money where their mouth is - by turning up at Glasgow Green tomorrow!
