North Lanarkshire Update


I wrote to all MSPs and MPs in North Lanarkshire recently regarding the ongoing pensions dispute with the Labour-run Council.

The politicians to have responded so far are:

Alex Neil - MSP for Airdrie and Shotts

Jamie Hepburn - MSP for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth

Neil Gray -  MP for Airdrie and Shotts

Here's a full list of names and email contact addresses in case people are looking for support over pensions or, indeed, other topical issues to do with the ongoing fight for equal pay in North Lanarkshire Council.



North Lanarkshire MSPs (06/05/16)




The Scottish Parliament elections have 'booted out' the three sitting Labour MSPs in North Lanarkshire and resulted in a clean sweep for the SNP.

Now that doesn't surprise me, I have to say, because these individuals never stood up to the local Labour council over equal pay and made a very poor show of speaking out on behalf of their local constituents. 

As regular readers know, there are still lots of outstanding equal pay issues in North Lanarkshire which I detailed in a recent letter to the opposition leader on the Council, Councillor David Stocks (see post below).

So the fight goes on and here are the contact email addresses for North Lanarkshire's new constituency MSPs.

Alex Neil has been steadfast in his support over the years, Jamie Hepburn has played a positive role as well and Clare Adamson, Richard Lyle and Fulton McGregor are the 'new kids' on the block.

So, congratulations to one and all, and don't be shy about letting local politicians know what you think about North Lanarkshire Council's appalling foot-dragging antics is relation to equal pay.

North Lanarkshire MPs (04/05/16)


Here are the email addresses for the four Westminster MPs whose constituencies cover the North Lanarkshire Council area.
Everyone affected by the pensions dispute with North Lanarkshire Council should consider witting to their local MP, so that this matter is brought to a conclusion as quickly as possible.
Keep me posted on any developments and I will share the on the blog site to encourage other readers, but I would be very surprised if all four MPs were not prepared to give full support to their local constituents.
Instead of trying to wash their hands of the issue, as some Labour politicians have done in the past, by saying this is a 'Council matter' which has nothing to do with them!
