Fife Council Update (19/06/15)

I wrote recently about the outstanding equal pay claims in Fife and the fact that dates have now been set aside to hear these cases in October and November 2015.

I plan to turn the spotlight on the Labour-run Council over the next few months and, in particular, its leader David Ross who represents the Kirkcaldy North constituency.

So I'd be grateful to hear from any Action 4 Equality Scotland clients who live in this part of Fife to see if we can come up with some useful campaign ideas, especially as the Scottish Parliament elections are just round the corner in 2016.

Fife Council Update (21/05/15)

Fife Council is another council where Action 4 Equality Scotland (A4ES) has a large number of outstanding equal pay cases, 2nd wave claims.

Now the council has been dragging its feet over these claims for years, but the good news is that the Employment Tribunals has now agreed dates to hear these cases and 20 days have been set aside from 6th October to 2nd November 2015.

The current leader of the Council is David Ross, the Labour councillor for Kirkcaldy North, and David took over the reins from Alex Rowley who is now a Labour MSP in the Scottish Parliament, of course.

Now Alex had lots of advice for the Scottish Labour leader, Jim Murphy, and led the way in calling for his resignation last week which I find quite surprising, I have to say.

Because the Labour in Fife has hardly covered itself in glory with this stubborn refusal to settle all of its outstanding equal play claims.

So who knows, maybe Alex will reflect on his own advice to the Scottish Labour leader and tender his resignation forthwith.
