Bad, Bad Leroy Brown
I posted a Jim Croce song the other day - I've Got A Name - which is played to great effect in Quentin Tarantino's latest movie, 'Django Unchained'.
Well here's another memorable Jim Croce song - Bad, Bad, Leroy Brown - which must have pressed all the right buttons because Frank Sinatra covered it as well - although not with the same style and panache.
Bad, Bad Leroy Brown
Well the south side of Chicago
It's the baddest part of town
And if you go down there, you better just beware
Of a man name of Leroy Brown
Now Leroy more than trouble
He stood about six feet four
All the downtown ladies call him: "treetop lover"
All the studs just call him Sir
He's bad (bad), bad (bad) Leroy Brown
baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder than old King Kong, and
Meaner than a junkyard dog
Now Leroy he a gambler
And he like his fancy clothes
He like to wave his diamond ring(s)
In front of everybody's nose
He got a custom Continental
He got a Eldorado too
He got a 32 gun in his pocket for fun
He got a razor in his shoe
Yeah He's bad(bad), bad (bad) Leroy Brown
baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder that old King Kong
And Meaner that a junkyard dog
Well Friday - 'bout a week ago
Leroy's shootin' dice
And at the edge of the bar, sat a lady named Doris
and ooh she sure looked nice
Well he laid his eyes upon her
and the trouble soon began
And Leroy Brown he learned a lesson 'bout messin'
With the wife of a jealous man
Yeah He's bad (bad), bad(bad) Leroy Brown
baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder than old King Kong
And Meaner than a junkyard dog
He's bad (woo he's bad ), Leroy Brown
baddest man in the whole damn town
Badder than old King Kong
And Meaner than a junkyard dog
*ruff ruff*
