Glasgow - Message for Annemarie

Seems like Glasgow's claimants are getting their banners prepared for next week's strike and the March and Rally in support of equal pay.

I did say last week that trying to bully and intimidate the workforce was not a good move - and so it's proved.

Glasgow - Equal Pay Claimants Have Their Say (07/10/18)

Here's a selection of the comments I've received in response to the now infamous Glasgow City Council email - 'Message From Annemarie O'Donnell, Chief Executive'.

Some are angry, understandably, others are thoughtful, funny or, occasionally, sad, but what they all have in common is a real sense of determination to see justice done - to see this through to the end.

What a disgrace sending this letter to us all trying to make us feel guilty when it was her and her officers that made this mess in the first place she can stop this strike by getting round the table and start some serious negotiations with our representatives x

F

Well wow thats a low blow making the unfairly treated underpaid women feel guilty for going on strike for what they deserve .. well how about all those high paid execs get out and off their arse and do the job theirselves

C

We are FAMILY? Never have been, never will be, WE ARE THE RUNTS OF THE LITTER in GCC eyes, well no more

M

They should be calling an emergency meeting to try and get this resolved not ignoring our representatives

s

Guess who?

A

Thought they were putting life n limb cover in place if we strike just give us what we’re due n stop messing about with their workforce

M

We are too important to strike but not important enough to pay us the proper wages two words = FUCK OFF

J

Don't cave in people, she could put a stop to this if she wanted

L

Well Annmarie get you finger out your arse and sort it

G

Yes get it sorted you are the heartless ones

L

Disgraceful shared so everyone can no what is going on

R

that's what I was saying and people might believe what she is saying we know different

E

council family she needs to buy a dictionary I certainly wouldn't like to be member of her family

E

Shame on you for trying to make us the guilty party 😢😢 you should have worked this out long ago

S

We got the email indirectly they can't even send it out correctly to staff involved. It's now to be passed to teachers for info.

S

Maybe should have thought about the 30,000 visits and 6,500 clients BEFORE the threat of strike and what effect it would have and made equal pay negotiations priority instead of thinking their lower paid staff were pushovers

A

She must have been at different negotations than our representatives then. And if they agree WPBR is discriminatory why are they back at ET?

K

Believing there own lies. Shame on them. At least hold your hands up and Admit you were wrong

I

It makes me laugh. Anne Marie, if you think it's such an important role we play in taking such good care of all these sick and vulnerable people, why have you insulated us by paying us a pittance, for so many years, it was ok to drag it through the courts and show all us ladies such disrespect for all these years ,but now all of a sudden you can't do without us, and you have the cheek to now attempt to make us feel guilty, my clients are all 100 percent behind me, as they agree, I deserve to be treated better than this.

Y

This is not just about equal pay it’s how this council has and is being run and the secrecy of it all. These women don’t want to strike but have no option as talks are dead in the water.

M

This strike action Should have been done long before now annemarie o'donnell should go the staff on low wages have suffered enough for years and the fat cats have prolonged this equal pay issue for years yet she puts out a disgusting letter making the best staff in britain feel guilty fir taking action fir being treated like merde?

B

Anyone else had this letter left in their staff room ? Guilt trip or what ? X😡

M

Well Anne Marie O’Donnell looks like you have dug a big grave for yourself with that e-mail. And you can’t dig yourself out of it. Idle threats only make us stronger. So get ur overall on cos we’re STRIKING 😡😡

V

What about all the people that have died waiting on there claim gcc are running out of delaying tactics

M

I think that email is awful I mean we're being forced to strike as they are just not moving forward with a offer I for sure don't want to be leaving my clients vulnerable I'm sure nobody does but there just not doing anything so I'm afraid we have to make a point

L

She has got a nerve ..cheeky cow 🐄🐄

K

Yeah all staff got one, from H.T she got email, telling her to print it out and hand to all staff, straight in shredder lol🤗

M

Best place for it M 😂

M

Annmarie needs a shovel to dig a deeper hole

L

No Nae Never - Strike all the way never mind what she is saying their is never a better time to strike the whole country is behind us all the way as we are for them it’s time we the frontline services put a stop to this pittance of the pay they are giving us and robbing us at every turn meanwhile they are paying themselves eye watering salaries for the crap job they are doing

T

Bully tactics, wee all expected this to happen. If your so concerned Annemarie O'Donnell you go & work for our wage. You have created this mess so deal with it.
We all need to stand together and ignore Annemarie O'Donnell and the rest of her cronnies.
STRIKE ALL THE WAY!!

M

What a load of crock is that supposed to make us feel bad no chance hopefully Mrs this is just the start of the strikes so do one STRIKE STRIKE.and more STRIKES.till we get whats due to us

T

I am that person who took the offer in 2006, I received £1,500, my co-worker went with Action 4 Equality Scotland and received £11,500, so I will not be entertaining a OFFER. I have a claim with A4ES since 2007 and want a negotiated settlement, as I put my trust into GCC in 2006, and will not be duped again, and can I say our Union responded to its members wishes to strike, we are not being coerced, we are tired of waiting for what is rightfully ours, how long must we wait, you left us with no alternative and united we stand

L

Absolutely agree! The senior officials are the problem in this whole mess. They created it and are trying to to now make the workforce feel guilty and bulky us into not striking! No one wants to strike.. but we have been left with no other option!

K

Again read your blog you could not hav put it better about our leader of the council how she sleeps at night is anyones guess. And she should resign and take her cronies with her.

B

Thought I’d let you know Annmarie O’Donnell is sending out an email asking people to rethink their decision to strike especially home carers as a strike could cost lives and the unions are lying and negotiations are going well. I didn’t receive it even though I’m a carer, but I voted yes and will be on strike with my colleagues.

E

Hopefully the fact that 98% of us have voted to strike will make some people sit up and say wow there's something seriously wrong here!

J

On the day of the strike and march it would be good to have a moment of silence for all our colleges that has passed away waiting on they're equal pay.

F

Thought for the day. Nick Leeson brought down Barings Bank gambling £827 million, punishment 6 and a half years in the clink. Yet in Glasgow?

M

It's time ANNEMARIE O’DONNELL, resigned she can’t be trusted we want strike it’s the only way we don’t take it lightly her statement just makes u want it more we want equality for all.

B

As a CDO I'm am totally in agreement with striking. It breaks my heart that vulnerable families within the community need our services but over years my husband and I have struggled with being low paid in our jobs with no other financial help as we were just over the threshold to receive any help , our only child did without and we made sacrifices not easy getting work life balance. Enough is enough ...... I have also relied on Home carers that looked after my late dad and my goodness worth their weight in gold. What these women /men, they are amazing. We couldn't thank them enough. If my dad was still here we would be totally in favour of the strike action, we would have too, I hope friends, family and community pull together and check in on that neighbour that may need that little more help because at the end of the day our families are important to us and the decision to strike hasn't come easy. It also highlights the impact of the important jobs we all do in our communities, the low paid keep the service running.

C

Threats and more threats again well i hope the ones its doing it will be rolling up there sleeves and going out there on the strike then.after all as they say people lifes are at risk then they will know how hard everyone works out there. But they wont be fighting for equal pay with there big wage.so lets see if they do.there running scared now and made me more determined to strike. RUN RABBIT RUN .
BRING IT ON ...LETS SHOW THEM GIRLS HOW SERIOUS WE ARE AND WE NOT TAKING ANY SHIT FROM NOW ON. STRIKE STRIKE STRIKE

C

We have been told we will be getting an “offer” by December. We do not want an offer, we want what we are entitled to. If they had given us the pay increase we deserved 10 years ago when they gave the first payouts this situation would never have arisen. As far as life’s being in danger the union has ensured that vulnerable people will not be left without help. We are not being nasty or inhuman we are fighting for what we should already have been getting for the last 10 years. Trying to make us feel guilty about standing up for ourselves is a low blow. Glasgow City Council have Investers in People plaques all over their premises. This is one of the biggest lies told by the council they are not invested in their employees and only bring out the “family” tag when it suits them.

A

Have to admit I'm not thrilled and will certainly feel the pinch I will lose 2 days pay since it falls on my week on but needs must solidarity is key personally I'm fed up being made a mug of but also feel more for the poor souls who have died we owe it to them to make a stand!!

J

Stand together and we will do this strike

K

That’s my week off but il defo be out there with every1 I won’t be losing wages this time but I’m more than happy to make a donation to help, none of us can afford to lose but if everyone thats not losing out donates a little it will give the 1s that’s losing wages a bit back

P

I'm actually off the week of this strike action, but I'll be supporting the girls and guys who are out, we can all make a donation to the union if we want to assist the people who are losing wages this time.

K

I live alone with a mortgage so I will feel the pinch losing two days pay and am not in a lot debt.. but will be on strike as that's what has to be done tho I was in strike for weeks years ago and here we are again same fight but we need to stick together.. :) everyone has different circumstances but we all have same goal..

E

She (Annemarie O'Donnell) is talking 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💩

A

The email that was sent to workers smacks of arrogance ,not a sliver of embarrassment at the mess her and her officers created just paragraphs of blame shifting and how shameful of her to try and pull on workers heartstrings with her emotional blackmail.

M

Love it

A

Exactly the woman has no shame or clue all about how we are doing wrong fighting for what’s right

S

I agree with all of the above

E

Ditto

E

We got the email today its a joke putting the blame on us when its them that are not paying as our money they have had long enough to sort this out but they thought we wouldnt strike

N If she doesn't feel bad, we'll neither do I, pay up or shut up....
Strike!!!!!

L

Annemarie O’Donnell's conduct in this whole thing has been shocking and the email we received from her today is disgraceful she should resign she’s not fit for purpose!!!

L

I REPLIED TO HER EMAIL - JUST ONE WORD RESIGN! EVERYBODY SHOULD REPLIED ONE WORD RESIGN!

J
Yes our demands are very easy all we want is what we deserve life and limb never not with 15 min calls as I’ve said easy as just pay 💰 up

E

Yes there will be serious consequences if carers, support staff etc go on strike, so how dare she make that statement knowing full well employees have died awaiting money that was rightfully theirs, money that she and her cohorts have for years attempted to stop them from receiving.

J

yeah no thought for our colleagues who have passed she has an ego the size of Ben Nevis yip I believe they already know comparators etc but they just don't want to pay plain and simple x

E

Total emotional blackmail tactics she’s using disgraceful maybe if they paid us what were due we wouldn’t be in this mess

C

Apparently homecare administer end of life care??? Scraping the barrel there annmarie, home care PROMPT medication only, PALLIATIVE care is administered by NURSES, DOCTORS OR HOSPICE TRAINED STAFF. False statements are shocking, if I took 12 years to spread salt, sweep the leafs, clean the toilets that looked look like a prison protest had taken place I would have been sacked in 2006. I wouldn't have got away with saying I will deal with it in 2019.

S

This woman is a complete idiot

M

Knew the emotional blackmail woukd surface ...about loss of life ...who is she kidding that it won't make things go quicker etc !! Oh yes it will when you EXPERIENCE THE IMPACT the strike will have on Glasgow ! ... parents are backing us even though itdisrupts aftercare etc.... homecare clients are AGREEING with the carers to go on strike as quoted by a client of one if my friends "you girls work hard and need to strike you deserve what you are owed " ..... so we have the backing of the people too. So get your finger out your arse Annmarie and realise...this ain't going away until you pay !!!!!!

E

The woman has no shame her and her officers are the ones that have robbed us for years and still trying to rip us all off. no respect for our colleges that has passed away waiting on this getting settled.

F

I can’t believe such an email was sent to us Firstly if they were so concerned about the vulnerability of services and service users they would get there act together and pay us what we are due Nobody should have to wait the years we have waited Strikes should go ahead and if needed a three day strike should be next It’s unacceptable how we council workers have been treated and it should stop now.

A
