Scotland's 'Pretendy Parliament'

Euan McColm on crucial test for the credibility of the Scottish Parliament's committee system which was intended originally to help bring about a healthier, more accountable democracy - less beholden to party politics. 

Yet instead the opposite has happened - Holyrood now has fewer and fewer independent minded MSPs prepared to say and do the right thing. 

The spineless behaviour of the SNP and the Greens has brought the Scottish Parliament into even more disrepute.

No one can now take its equalities committee seriously with a deputy convener who says the UK Supreme Court is 'bigoted, prejudiced and hateful'.
