How is a suspended sentence and a two-year supervision order for rape taking violence against women and girls seriously?
The judge in this case said that the defendant knew what he was doing was wrong - his defence was that he was taught at an unnamed Islamic faith school that women were worthless
"In other interviews with psychologists, Rashid claimed he had been taught in his school that ‘women are no more worthy than a lollipop that has been dropped on the ground."
Rashid had the 'street smarts' to book and pay for a hotel room at a Premier Inn, but told police he was 'seduced' by the 13-year-old girl.
