The man who attacked my family and friends in Oregon was sentenced to 33 years in prison for his cowardly crimes.
Steven Oliver Ryan has been placed on the sex offenders register for life and if he is ever released from prison he will be supervised in the community for another 20 years - by which time he'll be 90.
Now that's what I call a deterrent sentence for sexual predators - one that takes violence against women and girls seriously.

I have been in the great state of Oregon for the past three weeks helping to send a cowardly rapist and sexual predator to prison.
Steven Oliver Ryan, my former son-in-law, betrayed the trust of my family and friends - and was sentenced earlier today to to 33 years in jail for his monstrous crimes.
Steven was led away in a prison jump suit after today's hearing and will most likely serve his sentence in the aptly named Snake River penitentiary.
As a convicted rapist he will be placed on the sex offenders' register and if he ever leaves prison he must be supervised in the community for another 20 years - by which time he'll be 90.
I could not be more proud of my wife, my daughters, their friends and the many people who have supported us over the very difficult last two years which it has taken to bring this unspeakable coward to justice.
