Well done to Sir Laurie Magnus whose damning verdict on Nadhim Zahawi has resulted in the Conservative minister being sacked for falling below the high standards expected of those who serve in the UK Government.

Meanwhile in Scotland Nicola Sturgeon remains judge and jury on matters relating to the behaviour of SNP/Green ministers and the Scottish Government's ministerial code.

Good luck to Sir Laurie Magnus who has been given the job of investigating claims that Nadhim Zahawi broke the ministerial code - at Westminster.

I hope he comes up with the right answers without fear or favour.

Meanwhile, in Scotland, Nicola Sturgeon (aka 'a supporter of open government' and 'champion of democracy') acts as judge and jury over any claims that her ministers may have broken the ministerial code.

"The Independent Adviser on Ministers’ Interests is appointed by the Prime Minister to advise him on matters relating to the Ministerial Code. The post holder is independent of government and expected to provide impartial advice to the Prime Minister."

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
