ScotGov - Ministers, Fall Guys and Resignations

The Daily Record reports that public health minister Joe Fitzpatrick has resigned, but Nicola Sturgeon bears far more responsibility for this ScotGov policy failure.
Scotland has the worst drug deaths record in Europe - while Glasgow has the biggest drug problem across the whole of Scotland.

Nicola Sturgeon has been a Glasgow MSP since 1999 and has acted as First Minister and Deputy First Minister of Scotland since 2007.

Yet Joe Fitzpatrick is the one to resign even though he has only been the Scottish Government's public health minister since 2018.

Meanwhile Glasgow's constituency MSPs (all SNP) are as quiet as church mice for fear of rocking the boat with the party hierarchy.

FitzPatrick "agreed" to leave the government after discussions with Sturgeon today.

In a statement FitzPatrick said: "I spoke with the First Minster today and agreed that I should leave government.

"It has been the privilege of my life to serve in the Scottish Government and, during that time, the most heart-breaking and difficult problems I have faced as Public Health Minister is the harms and deaths caused by drug use."
