Everyday Sectarianism

Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke made a number of very telling points about the sectarian abuse he received at the hands of Rangers supporters during a match at Ibrox the other night.

Why is it completely unacceptable for football fans to call Clarke's assistant or one of his players a 'black bastard' - yet officialdom looks the other way when the manager is abused at his place of work with equally ugly, anti-Catholic insults?

If you ask me, until there are harsh penalties against football clubs - including heavy fines, loss of points and forfeiting matches - this kind of vile behaviour will continue because the bigots and bullied are difficult to isolate and root out from within a large crowd.

Difficult though not impossible.
