Wrong Kind of Muslim (19/12/15)

A young man named Craig Wallace (23) from North London has been charged with sending malicious messages to an MP on the day after the House of Commons voted to extend air strikes against IS into Syria.

Curiously, Craig also goes by the name of Muhammad Mujahid Islam which suggest he is a follower of Islam.

Apparently Craig (aka Muhammad) described Labour's shadow foreign secretary, Hilary Benn, as a "war criminal" and "terrorist" on Facebook, but he was  arrested over the contents of a separate message sent to a different MP who understandably complained to the police.

No doubt the details will emerge of what Craig/Muhammad allegedly said to merit him being arrested by the police, but there are a lot of 'crazy' people out there on social media using similar intemperate language which could be construed as inciting violence.

In the meantime, I'd like to know how long Craig/Muhammad has been espousing his Islamist views on social media platforms like Facebook where he appears to have been using an alias or a false name?

In response to the attack at Leytonstone Underground station the hashtag #YouAintNoMuslimBruv has sprung up on social media - which is a good thing if you ask me because it's pretty clear that the vast majority of Muslims do not support the use of violence and terror as a way of resolving political or religious differences.

But there are clearly some who have no problem in justifying terrorism by reference to the Quran and their religious beliefs - and it's those individuals that every citizen has a duty to challenge and root out.

The recent mass shooting in San Bernardino was carried out by two people (parents of a six month old baby) who regarded themselves as devout Muslims, as did the cowardly Islamists responsible for the murderous attacks on Paris.

So maybe the real issue is not so much 'You Ain't A Muslim Bruv' and that this well intentioned statement would be put more accurately as: 'You're The Wrong Kind of Muslim Bruv'.
