Uniting Your Enemies

Gordon Brown's old attack dog, Damian McBride, is another Labour commentator who believes that Jeremy Corbyn has shot himself in both feet with his botched 'revenge reshuffle'

Jezza has achieved the impossible, apparently, by uniting the Brownite and Blairite wings of the party against him and his London Labour 'kitchen cabinet' which includes Seumas Milne, John McDonnell, Ken Livingstone and Diane Abbott.

"The combined weight of the Brownite and Blairite machines, together with the authority that the centrist neutrals give them, could bring down even the most powerful of leaders, and Jeremy Corbyn is certainly not that."

Damned with faint praise, you could say, but then again it has been clear from the outset that Jeremy Corbyn was not really up to the job and that his only chance of success was to surround himself with smart, 'can do' people from all wings of the Labour Party.

Instead his key allies are all close friends and/or fellow political ideologues of the old left.

The Brownite machine flickers into life and will declare war on Corbyn

By Damian McBride

For six long years, the Brownite machine has been dead. A tarpaulin shroud covers the most formidable political force in modern politics, which once undermined Tony Blair when necessary, trounced the Tories for fun, and ruthlessly saw off every Labour rival to Gordon Brown.
