North Lanarkshire Update



Readers in North Lanarkshire will be interested to learn that a further Employment Tribunal hearing has been scheduled to deal with the long-running dispute over the grading of Classroom Assistants, Clerical Workers and Sheltered Housing Wardens.

 The details of the hearing are as follows and, as before, individual claimants are entitled to attend:

 Date: Friday 22 January 2016

 Time: 10am 

 Venue: Glasgow Employment Tribunal, 215 Bothwell Street, Glasgow, G2 7TS

 Daphne Romney QC will be representing the interests of A4ES clients along with Sarah Gilzean from HBJ Gateley, so please make yourself known to Daphne and Sarah if you attend next week's hearing.

 I am re-publishing previous posts on this issue to help refresh people's memories on the background to this grading dispute, but essentially things boil down to a Labour-run Council refusing to accept that these female dominated jobs are worth the same as a Council Refuse Collector or Council Gardener.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
