The Coo's Tail

Angry GMB members want to know why their union is at the 'coo's tail' (i.e. miles behind everyone else) when it comes to dealing with equal pay claims in North Lanarkshire Council.

Now if you ask me there's no good reason for the present state of affairs, because the negotiations with North Lanarkshire started last year and dragged on over several months into 2015.

So how can the GMB still be in talks with the Council when all the other parties involved (Action 4 Equality Scotland, Fox and Partners Solicitors, Unison and Unite) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on equal pay weeks ago?

The GMB's web site has nothing to say on the subject and I find it hard to believe that a trade union would behave in this way if its members were able to complain to a regulatory body, i.e. an independent watchdog that could stand up for 'little guy' by holding big union bureaucracies to account.

Maybe the members involved ought to start complaining and looking for support from their MSPs and MPs because I've never heard the like of this before in my life.
