Iranian Elections

I wonder what would happend in Iran if someone were to publish the following spoof article on the country's Presidential elections - as Private Eye did last week?

Those Iranian presidential election results in full

The winner with 105 percent of the vote was the extreme moderate Hard-lin fundamentalist reform candidate Dr Rowhardlini, whose popular platform of being not quite as extreme as any other candidate earned him a landslide victory.

His nearest rival, the even more hardline, not at all moderate, extreme fundamentalist, Imam Masmurdah, failed to attract much support, with his manifesto promising to hang half the population from cranes as a deterrent to the other half.

Dr Rowhardlini has promised a new dawn for Iran, with an array of progressive, liberal reformist policies, such as developing nuclear weapons, destroying Israel, defying the great Satan in its attempts to undermine Islamicist theocracy, and generally giving the world an impression of being thoroughly moderate, sensible,  pragmatic and not at all bonkers.

Dr Rowhardlini was congratulated on his victory by his predecessor as President, Dr Ahmedinajacket, who said, "Of course,  it doesn't really matter who wins these elections because the country is still run by the Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khomeini Jong II. (Is this right? Ed.)
