A very tetchy Shona Robison, Scotland's finance minister, does a very poor job of trying to wash the SNP's hands of the mess the public finances are in.
Free bus travel for under 22-year-olds costs public money at £100+ million a year - as does the abolition of university tuition fees which involves a huge transfer of wealth to the better off from the less well off.
And it's these public spending chickens which are finally coming home to roost.
