Glasgow, SNP/Greens and Recycling

Now this overflowing bottle bank on Glasgow's Maryhill Road is sending out two very different messages on public policy.

The first is that recycling is a success and Glaswegians, like everyone else, are willing to take their empty bottles to a local collection point - although it would obviously help if Glasgow City Council emptied its bins much more frequently.

The second is that the Scottish government's Deposit Return Scheme (a joint SNP/Green policy) was an expensive, unnecessary disaster which wasted tens of millions of pounds. 

Because the real enemy when it comes to litter is not glass bottles, but discarded food containers such as the ones shown in the photo below.
