Baloney Threats and Scotland's Census Shambles


I received a silly letter from the SNP ministers recently regarding the census shambles which is very embarrassing and is costing us all a small fortune - £30 million and counting.

But the threat to fine people is complete baloney, of course.

Because while ScotGov might say they have not received a completed questionnaire this is not evidence the document has not been sent in via the post.

I don't see how anyone can be threatened seriously with a fine for not returning their census form. 

Because all people need to say is that they returned the paperwork - since there is no way of proving otherwise.

The underlying problem is that Scottish Ministers have got people's backs up by politicising the census with daft questions about trans issues.

And their insistence on holding a separate Scottish census has already cost the public purse an extra £20 million - plus another £10 million as a result of extending the deadline to the end of May rather than 1st May.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
