SNP and Equal Pay

SNP staffer, Rosa Zambonini (a former councillor) attacked the WomenWontWheesht protest at Glasgow Green, via social media, citing the 'gender pay gap' as something better to do with their time.

Now this is a bit rich coming from the SNP because thousands of low paid women workers are still fighting SNP led Glasgow City Council for equal pay.

The Council’s discriminatory pay arrangements (introduced in 2007 with all party agreement) are still in force even though they were declared 'unfit for purpose' by Scotland's highest civil court, the Court of Session, in August 2017.

The SNP led council then tried to overturn this landmark judgment and finally threw in the towel in December 2017 but only after their appeal to the CoS was lost, as this would have required Glasgow's SNP leaders to mount a further (politically suicidal) appeal to the UK Supreme court in London.

So Rosa's rant is just ill-informed, ignorant nonsense and interestingly I believe I'm right in saying that Rosa is employed in the office of James Dornan, the SNP MSP for Glasgow Cathcart (a former councillor and SNP group leader on Glasgow City Council).

Sadly, as regular readers know, Glasgow's SNP MSPs have been as quiet as wee church mice during the fight for equal pay in Glasgow - although I'd be happy to debate the issues publicly with all and any of them at any time.
