Right Not To Die

Alex Massie compares an oleaginous parliamentary exchange between Patrick Harvie and Nicola Sturgeon - with the rather more serious issue of children dying in Scotland's flagship Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.

"Here, she noted, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child had been incorporated into domestic law. “The rights of a child matter whether that child was born here in Scotland or is the child of an asylum seeker. They are a child living in Scotland, and all children should have the same rights,” she said.

"This must, one would think, include the right not to be killed by a hospital in which you are undergoing treatment. Yet four years ago, two children died at the brand new Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow as a result of the hospital’s contaminated water supply."

Fair point, well made.

Not Good Enough, First Minister (May 28, 2021)

Anas Sarwar is justifiably angry over the treatment of two families who lost a child at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.
