Unison, Unions and Self-ID
Unison, a trade union with 70% female members, has been in the news recently after its President (Unison Steve) called women workers 'bigots' for demanding single sex changing areas at work.
The union is promoting the views of vocal, largely male, trans activists - instead of standing up for the vast majority of grassroots members who reject the absurd notion than men can magically declare themselves to be women.

Trade unions are driven by small a number of activists - nothing wrong with this, of course, because the same is true of all other voluntary organisations.
The important thing is for trade unions to reflect and represent the views of their members, but when it comes to women's rights and trans issues union activists are out of step with grassroots union members.
Like the rest of society the vast majority of ordinary union members reject self-ID and the absurd notion that men can just magically declare themselves to be women - it's utter nonsense.
Consider this Unison motion (typical of its kind) pushing trans propaganda and the baloney claim that men who self-identify as women really are women which is so obviously untrue.
As reasonable people know, trans women are men and it's important that trade unions reflect this important reality and the views of their members - not those of trans activists.
