Glasgow's New 'Urban Blight'
Very sad to find out that this unique building on Waterloo St #Glasgow, with huge figures, barley twist columns and cannon! is about to be partly demolished for - wait for it - student accommodation. 19 stories high. pic.twitter.com/wudkEO7CAn

Fair comment from Dr Ailsa Boyd.
Glasgow is awash with new student accommodation and this latest addition is not a credible strategy for improving the run-down state of the city.
Glasgow's universities may benefit financially from attracting ever increasing numbers of foreign students, but this is an artificial, unsustainable boom which is creating urban blight.
I must start photographing and cataloguing all the new student buildings in the city centre - please send local examples which I'll share on my blog.
