More Readers' Comments

Here are just some of the readers' comments I received in the wake of the big news from the Court of Session which came down on the side of the appellants (A4ES, Unison and Unite) by deciding that Glasgow's job evaluation scheme (JES) and its WPBR pay arrangements are 'not fit for purpose'.

The GMB union played no part in this challenge, of course, but is now involved in a brazen attempt to claim credit for the work of the other claimant organisations after sitting on the sidelines for the past five years.

I imagine this will be spectacularly unsuccessful because the head of your average Glaswegian doesn't 'button up the back'.

If the powers that be in GCC see this I have a message from the thousands of workers who have with the help of A4E fought you through just about every court in the land . We have won at every turn through these many years. You GCC have wasted huge amounts of taxpayers money fighting us and you have lost now get over it , admit that our claims are righteous and start negotiating with our representatives . Never forget the electorate are watching you, the new administration. The electorate put their trust in you and the electorate can and will take it away again should you fail in your clear duty.

A big thank you to Mark Irvine, Stefan cross, and Action 4 Equality for all their hard work and dedication and for all those years fighting for us without them this would not have been possible xx

If it's evaluating our job, I think I speak for many when I say as a carer, we are bin men, hair dressers, cooks, shoppers, house keepers, befrienders, a listening ear, cleaners including sewerage, launderer, drug administer, mover and handler and for some elderly the only port of call to the outside word and the only person they see from one day to the next. These are just a few of the tasks we under take, so as a carer our job description covers many professions and this should be strongly taken into consideration when evaluating our job and what we deserve to be paid for such a job.

Well done to everyone who has been involved in this for the past ten+ years and having the patience to see it through to the end. the new SNP administration must be sitting with their heads in their hands in the city chambers and saying OMG how do we deal with the s**t that labour left in their wake after 40 years of running the city and its people into the ground.
