Glasgow - Readers' Comment

GMB members (and ex-members) are sending me their comments on the latest letter from Gary Smith.

I know, that email he sent just makes him look desperate - what a silly man after reading it he has lost even more members

Why doesn't the GMB just offer to make good any money its members lose as a result of the union not doing its job properly? Surely the GMB has insurance cover in place to deal with this kind of situation.

Come on GMB. Give credit where credit is due. Stop hanging out your dirty washing on Facebook

Had a laugh reading Gary Smith's letter to GMB members where he conveniently blames Digby Brown for the union's shambles over equal pay.The real reason being his and every other union was in cahoots with the Labour party controlled councils. As I've said to my workmates you'll see the difference with SNP controlled councils now the unions will want us out if there's no toilet roll in the W.C's. As for his bugbear about A4ES commission at least we are now getting a service, but all that 12 years worth of payments to his union have produced is an excuse to say 'a big man done it and ran away'. Keep up the good work Mark and the team.

Now these are all very fair points if you ask me, but my offer to meet with Gary still stands, if the GMB really does want to help get to the bottom of the City Council's pay arrangements and what happened to the big bonus payments under Glasgow's EDC (Employee Development Commitment) scheme, for example.

So I would be happy to have a discussion at the GMB's headquarters in Charing Cross or to attend a future GMB members' meeting in Glasgow because this is business - it's nothing personal - and the key thing is to get the job done.
