Trump's Twitter Temper Tantrums
President-elect Donald Trump lost his temper with a chap called Chuck Jones, President of the United Steelworkers in Indiana, who criticised Trump's claim to have saved more than 1,000 jobs at the career steel plant in Indianapolis.
The union leader said that the terms of the deal with Carrier were being exaggerated by Team Trump and that the President-elect had "lied his ass off" at a press conference on 1 December 2016.
Trump responded with two angry tweets in quick succession which looked and sounded less than Presidential.
- If United Steelworkers 1999 was any good, they would have kept those jobs in Indiana. Spend more time working-less time talking. Reduce dues
- Chuck Jones, who is President of United Steelworkers 1999, has done a terrible job representing workers. No wonder companies flee country!
Back worse was to follow when it emerged that back in March 2016 the Vice President-elect had a much more generous view of Chuck Jones and the local United Steelworkers branch.
Appreciate the chance to meet w/ Chuck Jones & hardworking men of Local 1999 about our efforts to save Carrier jobs
