North Lanarkshire Update
I've had lots of enquiries about arranging local meetings in North Lanarkshire to step things up a gear or two in relation to equal pay.
I'll have more to say on that subject in the next day or so, but in the meantime a kind reader has drawn my attention to the following two job adverts from North Lanarkshire Council.

Now I thought I read somewhere recently that NLC was reducing its top management costs, but here we have the Council recruiting not just one but two Assistant Chief Executives at a salary cost of up to £124,349 a year each.
As regular readers know, I don't have a high opinion of senior officials in NLC not least because they introduced and benefited from a highly controversial pay scheme based on local 'performance bonuses' which were available only to the Council's top brass - while the low paid foot soldiers (mainly women) were all still fighting for equal pay.
And these pay arrangements were, of course, signed off by the Council's Labour-run administration right under the noses of the trade unions.
Come to think of it this would be a great time to re-publish some of the old posts from the blog site archive.
