Greek Drama

Image result for greek voting + images

The Scottish Parliament votes by its 129 members pressing a button to record their views (Yes/No/Abstain) on a particular subject or piece of legislation and seconds after a vote is taken the result is there for the whole world to see.

In the Greek Parliament things are rather different as I saw for myself the other night while watching 300 Greek MPs voting on whether or not to accept the terms offered on the latest Eurozone bail-out for their beleaguered economy.

Quite unbelievably the whole process took around 40 minutes from start to finish which I suppose is a metaphor for the 'shambolic' way most things are run in Greece these days, for example the country's tax and revenue services.

After all why do something quickly and efficiently when you can make a great drama out of going nowhere very fast?
