Straight to the Top

A regular reader has taken the bull by the horns - fired up by the foot dragging behaviour of councils that have asked to borrow money from the Scottish government.

Incensed that most of them have still to do anything practical with the additional funds - see post dated 4 August 2010.

The enterprising reader has gone straight to the top - no half measures or messing about - and has written to no less a person than the First Minister himself, Alex Salmond.

10 out of 10 for initiative, you have to say.

Now the First Minister doesn't run the councils concerned - it's up to them to get their fingers out - but they will find it highly embarassing nonetheless to be shown up in such a poor light.

As the reader says:"I feel this is totally unfair and unjust and I am well aware that the Scottish Government gave this money in good faith?"

So, let's hope the First Minister starts asking some awkward questions - and calls these councils to account - for what they're doing or not doing, as the case may be.

As ever, the more readers who get involved and raise their concerns - the better.
