Flags, Symbols and Public Services

The Scottish Government is being sued by a trainee GP after the NHS ordered her to stop displaying Palestinian flags at work.

Now I don't think anyone should be displaying flags and  other symbols at work because this is not the place for people to be making political or personal statements.

But the SNP have made a rod for their own back with their promotion of self-ID, gender ideology and trans issues at the workplace including the NHS and other public services.

As the young trainee, Dr Tamara Ali, said when her behaviour was challenged:

“....I pointed out that the practice manager was wearing a rainbow lanyard, which obviously advocates for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. And I said, ‘Just as she is rightfully advocating for the marginalised, it is my right and my duty as a doctor to advocate for Palestinians enduring genocide’.”

And therein lies the problem - Swinney and the SNP have used the NHS to promote a hotly contested belief system about self-ID and gender which allows everyone else to demand they also be allowed to use the workplace as a campaign platform for their partisan views.
