The Sunday Mail reports that Alex Salmond's friends are to continue the legal pursuit of the Scottish Government over claims that senior figures close to Nicola Sturgeon sought to destroy the former SNP leader and First Minister.

But you don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to conclude that someone at the very highest levels of the Scottish Government deliberately and maliciously leaked highly confidential information to the press.

There is no doubt that someone at the very highest levels of Nicola Sturgeon's SNP government tried to damage Alex Salmond up by leaking details of confidential allegations against the former First Minister to the Scottish press.

Because only a tiny handful of senior politicians and civil servants had access to the bombshell report and one or more of them must have decided to settle a score - thereby wrecking the integrity of an independent, unbiased investigation.
