Celtic are facing a hefty fine of over £20,000 from UEFA following incidents during their recent Champions League victory over RB Leipzig.

The financial penalty from Europe's governing body stems from two specific charges: the blocking of public passageways and a pitch invasion by fans.

The total fine amounts to €27,000, which translates to approximately £22,500.

This includes a €12,000 fine for the obstruction of public pathways and an additional €15,000 for the pitch invasion of a young supporter.

This latest penalty brings Celtic's total fines over the past two seasons to a staggering £200,000.

In an official statement, UEFA outlined the reasons for the sanctions: "Celtic FC Incidents and sanction. Blocking of public passageways, Art. 38 UEFA Safety and Security Regulations. Fine: €12,000.

“Invasion of the field of play, Art. 16(2)(a) DR. Fine: €15,000."

This situation highlights ongoing concerns regarding fan behaviour and safety regulations within modern-day football stadiums.
