"For 500 years, Christopher Columbus was one of the great heroes of western civilisation, a brave explorer and conqueror who broadened the scope of humanity and made the modern world possible. 

"Then, very recently, he became a villain. A greedy, ambitious, murderous racist colonial bastard. And then yesterday, finally, he became a Jew. A big-nosed, bug-eyed, curly-haired, silly-hat-wearing, fur-coated Jew. Perfect. How did we not see it?"
