High Flyers and Final Shortlists
Private Eye, the UK's best and only fortnightly satirical magazine, gives Boris Johnson a well-deserved roasting over his bizarre links with an old friend - Jennifer Arcuri.
The Sunday Times reports that during his time as London Mayor Johnson acted as a referee for Jennifer Arcuri, his alleged lover, in support of Ms Arcuri's application for a high-flying, £100,000 a year city job even though the 27-year old student evidently lacked the skills and experience required of a 'proven business leader'.
The newspaper also reports that the Tech City post was eventually filled by Baroness Joanna Shields, the former head of Facebook in Europe, the Middle East and Africa - and that Ms Arcuri did not make the final shortlist.
