Here's a Great Letter - It's Good To Talk

Here's a great letter that some of Glasgow's equal pay campaigners have posted on Facebook.

The aim is to encourage as many people as possible to raise the issue of Glasgow's 'unfit for purpose' WPBR and the lack of serious settlement negotiations with their local Councillors, MSPs and MPs.

So you can cut and paste the letter as it stands or add more information from my blog site - and/or from the various briefing materials supplied by the unions, GMB and Unison.

In any event 'Many Hands make Light Work', as they say, and the more people who get involved the better and why not ask for a meeting with your local politicians to put your point across directly?

If you ask me, every Glasgow Councillor, MSP and MP should be delighted to meet with their local constituents and offer practical support - instead of just sending a standard reply and meekly towing the party line.

Letter to MSPs and MPS...

Hi everyone,as per F's request we are going to leave this letter here if everyone could please, please, please copy and paste it then use the tool (for finding MSPS).

It only takes a few minutes and will be of benefit to us all to keep badgering our MPS..I’ve sent three ..one for the area my base covers, one to the regional MSP and one to the local MP in the area I live ..please can everyone send at least one out ..xxx

Dear Mr /Mrs

I am writing on behalf of myself and many colleagues within the Drumchapel/Anniesland area .

We cover Glasgow City as both home carers /co ordinators .

We are mailing you in the hope of requesting a meeting to discuss the current equal pay situation, as well as the impending strike action (which will undoubtedly have a major impact on home care services within the City of Glasgow)

A small group of us would like to meet with you to hear your own thoughts and opinions of The WPBR scheme, in particular we would be interested to hear if you agree that this scheme IS indeed discriminatory as well as “unfit for purpose ?”

As you are no doubt aware our representatives have had EIGHTEEN meetings with The Council Officials in a bid to settle this, and STILL we are no further forward than we were at meeting on.

I am hoping you understand how frustrating this is for us, particularly when it was agreed in court that WPBR did in fact show favouritism towards Male dominated job roles within the Council.

Again, we would like to hear your own thoughts and opinions now on this matter (you’re no doubt aware that this issue now seems to be garnering more publicity daily) your opinion would be appreciated.

We ALL want to avoid strike action but at this point we feel we are being backed into a corner ,given the fact we have had 18 meetings now with no discussions pertaining to any sort of settlement.

Thank you

C
