Seven Dwarves

I caught the tail end of a remarkable TV programme the other night presented by Warwick Davies: the story of the Ovitz family who became known as the 'Seven Dwarves of Auschitz'.

According to the programme the 'Ovitzes' were the only family to emerge intact from the Nazi death camp and having been liberated from Auschwitz in 1945 they emigrated to Israel in 1949 where they resumed their careers as musicians and entertainers.

Dr Joseph Mengele, leading member of the notorious SS, took a close interest in the family for a while and one of the sisters claims that this is what saved them all from the gas chambers where so many innocent people died.

I must try and watch the whole programme, but here's a trailer to give you a taste of a truly amazing human story.
