Nordic Connections
Scotland's connections with Norway received a boos the other day with the news that Glasgow Celtic have signed the Norwegian midfield player, Stefan Johansen (23), for a reputed transfer fee of £2 million.
Celtic fans will be hoping that their new signing makes a bigger impact than the last big Norwegian name to grace Parkhead because if I remember correctly, that was Harald Brattback a goalscorer who arrived in Glasgow with a big reputation, but who failed to live up to his billing.
Now Harald was a lovely intelligent chap, slightly built and clean-cut, who was scoring goals for fun both before and after his time in Glasgow, yet for long spells with Celtic he simply couldn't find the net - couldn't buy a goal, as they say.
So I hope Stefan Johansen fares a bit better - it's about time Celtic had another star player from Scandinavia to set the fans' pulses racing again.
