Number Crunching
The UK's best satirical magazine - Private Eye - has a regular column entitled 'Number Crunching'.
Which has the happy knack of bringing together facts and figures - that some folk would like to keep buried far from public view.
For example on the subject of MPs' salaries the Eye points out:
"Number Crunching"
"£6,158
Parliamentary salary during her appearance on I'm a Celebrity which Nadine Dorries MP has said she will donate to children's charities.
£40,000
Appearance fee from ITV which she has not said she will donate to anyone."
Now Mad Nad as she's affectionately known these days may come under pressure to 'redeem' herself - by donating all or part of her appearance fee as well - which would be the right thing to do.
But how the House of Commons can allow her to donate £6,158 in salary - is simply beyond me.
Because in truth it's public money that Nadine has patently not earned - while she's been in the Australian jungle eating odd animal parts.
