Glasgow MSPs and MPs (26/02/18)



I sent my post 'Why Glasgow's WPBR Sucks (7) to all Glasgow MSPs and MPs along with the following Twitter message:

Senior officials in Glasgow City Council should be on their knees apologising for the WPBR - instead they are defending the discredited pay scheme which has been condemned as 'unfit for purpose' by Scotland's highest civil court.

I hope that claimants in Glasgow are raising these issues with their elected politicians as well  - because the WPBR and its discriminatory pay practices for is a major issue for the parties to overcome, if there is to be a negotiated settlement of the outstanding equal pay claims. 

And at the moment, the senior officials representing the council side are the same senior officials who have been defending the WPBR for years.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer. So here's a list of activities which will help shine a light on what has been going on because as Lord Nolan once said apropos driving up standards in public life - 'daylight is the best disinfectant'.
