Labour - Bogged Down Over Brexit

After months of handwringing and navel gazing the latest Corbyn fudge on Brexit has left Labour in the same position the party has adopted since the 2016 referendum.

Corbyn's argument (supported by Unite's Len McCluskey) is that the UK can negotiate a mythical 'Jobs First' Brexit which means leaving the European Union - while at the same time retaining all the benefits of remaining as a full member of the European Union.

Which is a remarkable, anti-union argument for a former full-time union (NUPE) official and a trade union general secretary to make:

"We can decide to become non-union members - yet will be able to keep all the benefits of union membership".

Said no union leader - ever.

Worst Labour Leader Ever (11/11/18)

Jeremy Corbyn showed his true colours over Brexit with the following comment to Germany's Der Spiegel magazine:

"We can't stop it. The referendum took place. Article 50 has been triggered. What we can do is recognise the reasons why people voted Leave."

Now the day after the great EU referendum the Labour leader called for Article 50 to be triggered even though wiser heads (even Tory heads) counselled, at the time, that there was absolutely no need to rush headlong into difficult Brexit negotiations.

So it has proved and Jezza is quite wrong to say that Brexit can't be stopped or that Article 50 can't be revoked.

What a complete fool the man is the worst ever Labour leader.

Corbyn = Shit Leadership (26/06/19)

At Shadow Cabinet, Jeremy Corbyn said he was delaying a decision for 2 weeks, prompting Emily Thornberry to demand a decision today and tell him: "This is about leadership."
John McDonnell said he thought there would be white smoke today and asked if he had been wrong. 1/2

Here's an interesting tweet providing further evidence to confirm that Jeremy Corbyn is, without doubt, the worst leader in the Labour party's history.

The problem is that Corbyn is a committed 'Leaver' who surrounds himself with like-minded, anti-EU demagogues like Len McCluskey.

Yet the vast majority of Labour members and supporters are pro-EU and back a People's Vote on the final terms of any Brexit deal.

Brexit, Anti-Semitism and Shit Leadership (05/05/19)

Tony Robinson is not your run-of-the-mill celebrity who likes to bang on about politics occasionally - he's the 'real deal' having served the Labour party at Branch, Constituency and NEC (National Executive Council) level for 45 years.

The reasons for Tony's momentous decision are:

  • Labour's duplicity over Brexit
  • Labour's anti-semitism
  • Labour's shit leadership

I’ve left the Labour Party after nearly 45 years of service at Branch, Constituency and NEC levels, partly because of it’s continued duplicity on Brexit, partly because of it’s antisemitism, but also because its leadership is complete shit.

All I can say is that I can identify with all three reasons and I think it's true to say that under almost any other leader Labour would be miles ahead of the Tories.

Corbyn, Cranks and Brexit (24/09/18)

Jeremy Corbyn is surrounded by cranks and political crackpots including the likes of Len McCluskey, general secretary of Unite, who said on BBC Radio 5 Live yesterday:

“The referendum shouldn’t be on, ‘Do you want to go back in the European Union’.

“The people have already decided on that. We very rarely have referendums in this country, the people have decided against my wishes and my union’s wishes, but they have decided.

"For us now to enter into some kind of campaign that opens up that issue again, I think would be wrong."

Now this is against the background of a recent YouGov poll which showed that nearly 90% of Labour members support a People's Vote on the final terms of any Brexit deal.

The reality is that no one voted for this nonsense - no one voted for a 'No Deal' Brexit and if people like Boris Johnson can change their minds about what Brexit actually means, then a People's Vote is surely the only fair way forward.

People's Vote on Brexit (06/09/18)

The latest opinion poll suggests that the public mood has changed over Brexit with 59% of voters backing Remain and only 41% Leave.

Now if Boris Johnson can change his mind over the Chequers Plan and what Brexit actually means, why can’t the voters have the final say over any Brexit deal?

The support for Remain amongst Labour Party members is even more pronounced, by the way, with more than 70% in favour of staying in the European Union.

The poll, by the way, was conducted by Professor John Curtice at Strathclyde University's national centre for social research.

Message for Corbyn - STOP BACKING BREXIT! (17/06/18)

A group of enterprising young Labour supporters had a message for Jeremy Corbyn at yesterday's 'Labour Live' event in London - STOP BACKING BREXIT!

For having the temerity to speak out and echo the views the vast majority of Labour Party members the young protesters were asked to leave the event even though they must had paid for their tickets to be there in the first place.

Whatever happened to peaceful and good natured protest inside the Labour Party?

Maybe it's gone the same way as Labour Party democracy over Brexit because the vast majority of members support staying in the Single Market and the Customs Union - as well as having a popular vote on the final terms of any proposed Brexit deal.
